Context
This prediction market asks whether the artificial intelligence industry will experience a downturn by January 1, 2027. The market resolves to "Yes" if at least three specific industry stress events occur within a 90-day window, such as steep stock price drops for key companies like NVIDIA or major semiconductor funds, bankruptcies or acquisitions of major AI firms like OpenAI or Anthropic, dramatic drops in GPU rental prices, or major hardware supplier collapses.
As of November 2026, financial markets are experiencing a brutal AI selloff and mounting investor nervousness regarding the industry's financial situation. While some Wall Street strategists view recent declines as valuation corrections and positioning opportunities, others warn that global markets remain fragile as the tech bubble concerns continue to unfold.
Key factors monitored under the market rules include the stock performance of major hardware suppliers such as Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company, ASML, Broadcom, Arista Networks, and Super Micro Computer, alongside the market values of NVIDIA and the iShares PHLX Semiconductor ETF. The market's outcome also depends on the financial stability of leading AI developers like OpenAI and Anthropic, and hardware rental costs tracked on the Silicon Index.
